About KV Ordnance Factory Dum Dum, Kolkata

Kendriya Vidyalaya Ordanance factory Dum Dum is one of the premier and leading acadimics institutions of Kolkata. Established on 9th july, 1986, the Vidyalaya is run by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan under the Ministry of Human resources Development, Govt. of India with an endeavour to facilitate the children of the employees of Ordanance Factory Dum Dum, Defence Personnel and other Central Government offices. The School embodies some of the good features of Public School with emphasis on Indian culture and values without raising the cost of education.

The Campus is spread over 3.6 acre of land. The campus consist of three floor buildings separately for Primary and Secondary. It also consist of Pump House and Staff Quarters.

Initially the Vidyalaya was only up to class V and single section. Through years of sincere dedication, diligence and preseverance the sapling has grown into a flowering and fruit laden tree.

Salient Features :

The kendriya Vidyalayas are run by the kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, an autonomous body formed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development Deptt. of education, Govt. of India, New Delhi, as a result of the recommendations of the second pay commission. They primarily cater to the education needs of the children of the central Govt. Employees including Defence Personnel and floating population liable to frequent transfers throughout the country. Needless to say, therefore they have common syllabus and are affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.

Every School, hence is a 'miniature India' in itself and tries to inculcate in its students feelings of patriotism, brotherhood and national integration.

Places chosen for establishing kendriya Vidyalayas are those having concentration of Defence Personnel and other transferable Central Govt. Employees. For admission the Vidyalayas give priority to the children of transferable Defence Personnel, Central Govt. Employees and Personnel of All India Service, but other floating population desirous of having such common pattern of education are also eligible for admission to the remaining.
